Information relayed to Bigtimerz.com indicates that controversial Ghanaian movie producer, Socrates Sarfo, has been appointed as the new minister for the Creative Arts Industry by President-Elect Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo.
The Hot Fork movie maker who has to be vetted by a committee of members of Ghana’s parliament before his final approval had publicly announced his support for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and was visibly seen campaigning for the party and Nana Akufo-Addo during the 2016 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.
Creative Arts enthusiasts and pundits across the country including the coordinator of “celebrities for Mahama,” Mustapha Ayinde Nii Okai Inusah, had earlier made a passionate appeal to President-Elect Nana Akufo-Addo to appoint Socrates Sarfo as the minister for his massive contribution to the creative arts industry.
“Socrates Sarfo is not just a movie maker, he cuts across the board and understands the industry better. “He also worked and contributed a lot behind the scenes to ensure the success of the then Creative Arts Ministry under President Mahama.”
