Arrest A-Plus & Sam George – Fmr-GBC boss...

Former Director General of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) William Ampem Darko has called for the arrest and prosecution of the Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram Constituency, Sam George.

The former DG also called for the arrest of musician Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A-Plus, for inciting the public against the payment of TV license.

There have been controversies over the payment of the licenses following the constitution of a court by the Chief Justice to have defaulters jailed.

A-Plus in a Facebook post said he would be the first to go to jail over the issue because he would not pay.

The MP for Ningo-Prampram Constituency is also reported to have said on radio that GBC does not have the right to take such fees from the public.

Commenting on the issue on 3FM’s Sunrise on Thursday, Mr. Ampem Darko said, “If I were the Director-General at the GBC now, they will have gone to court by now. A-Plus and Hon Sam George would have been in court by now”.

“I will go to their homes to take the money and if they refuse to pay, I will take them to court,” he said.

Mr. Ampem Darko said Mr George was a member of the Parliament that made the law for GBC to collect the licenses and “you go on radio station to instigate people not to pay, I would have taken you to court to tell the court you would not pay”.

“Why doesn’t he fight it in [Parliament]?. He has the capabilities to fight it in the House.”
