The 8 gym rules John Cena lives by | Want a body like him?...
Written by the Providr.com editorial team.
John Cena is one of the biggest WWE Wrestlers in the business and is pretty much the face of the organization.
He’s been in the game for over a decade and he is still in peak condition. But his routine isn’t a secret, in fact, you can now get his body by following his 8 important gym rules.
1) Squats are one of the more important exercises for the wrestler. Whether you like it or not, it’s important to always get a few squats in every gym session. This is the one thing that Cena says you can’t do without.
2) Instead of shying away from the weaknesses, you should embrace them. The athlete knows that he has some weaknesses and he faces them head on.
‘I’m hamstring-deficient. It’s the way I am. If you’re like me, develop a program to build up your hamstrings. Don’t fake it,’ he says.
Sure, you might struggle to lift the weights but at the end of the day, you’re going to be training that muscle until it’s at par with the rest of your body.

3) The gym is a public area so be considerate of the people around you.
There are no maids or servants to clean up after you. ‘Your mom doesn’t workout here. Clean up after yourself.
Take the time to put the weight back in their place.’
4) Push yourself when you’re at the gym, but also keep in mind that sometimes your body just isn’t able to handle what it used to do.
‘I workout four times a week. The day I can’t handle four times a week, we’ll go down to three,’ says Cena.

5) Although it’s good to get into a routine, don’t just stick the same things all the time.
Feel free to switch it up and add some new exercises. You might not know how to do them properly at first, but it’s always good to learn.
‘I remember when I started doing Olympic lifts, I couldn’t get through them.
I thought to myself ‘Do these correctly – or don’t do them again’. Of course, I dove in and it was very humbling.’
6) If you want to get that rocking body then actually put in the work.
‘Just get in there and go. To be strong, you have to do strong stuff. Set realistic, attainable goals and you can’t lose.’

7) Although most people listen to music to keep their mind off of how boring their gym session is, Cena does the opposite.
He likes to ditch the tracks and focus on what he is doing.
‘I don’t listen to music when I lift, or before I go out for WWE. I like to hear myself and the audience.’
8) The machines are there to help you, but some can actually hinder you. For example, the smith machine.
‘It hinders you and forces you to move in a certain way.’
