Juicy Transfer: Man Utd 'offer £175m plus De Gea' for Ronaldo, Chelsea 'propose CR7/Hazard swap', Mbappe 'snubs Arsenal'...

So did Cristiano Ronaldo defraud the Spanish tax authorities out of £13m or not? That is the question literally no one seems to care about.

All anyone wants to know is where he’ll be playing next season, and how much he will cost.

What about him potentially being a criminal??

No, not interested? OK, have it your way. Hot Football Transfer Gossip can reveal that he might be playing for Manchester United next season, and he might cost £132m, or £157m, or £183m, or £175m, or a version of those sums topped up by whatever you think David de Gea is worth, subtracted by the value of Alvaro Morata. Complicated, isn’t it.

The figures above have all been reported in the last couple of days, but the highest appears in today’s Mirror, which states that Ronaldo could be on his way to Old Trafford for “£175m plus David de Gea”, who when we last checked had a price tag of £65m. In other words, about £240m, which is a rather high fee for a 32-year-old footballer.

There is a slightly different version of events in the Mail, which says United will offer Real Madrid £183m plus De Gea for Ronaldo, but they want Alvaro Morata to come with him.

And there is a very different version of events in the Star, which says United boss Jose Mourinho has “no desire” to sign Ronaldo because he thinks he is “in decline” and the Portuguese pair had a bad relationship when they worked together at the Bernabeu.

The Jason Cundy factor

Things get even crazier in the Express, which suggests that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich wants to sign Ronaldo in a swap deal with Eden Hazard because he thinks it’s the kind of ballsy move that will persuade Blues boss Antonio Conte to stay at Stamford Bridge.

Also in the Express, Chelsea’s rumoured Ronaldo swoop gets the full backing of former Blues defender Jason Cundy. That should really swing Cristiano’s thinking, then.

And it would seemingly need swinging, as the Sun reports that CR7 only has eyes for United, and has instructed his (super) agent Jorge Mendes to “do everything possible” to seal his return to Old Trafford.

And the other possibility is that he just stays at Real Madrid, which would be a bit of an anti-climax. But anti-climaxes are what the transfer window are all about.

Just ask Arsenal, whose dreams of signing Kylian Mbappe appear to have been shot down in flames by the Mirror’s claim that the Monaco starlet “only wants to join Real Madrid”. Not that surprising, really.

Meanwhile., Chelsea are attempting to avoid missing out on their targets by offering more and more money for them.

The Guardian says the Blues will try to seal deals for Alex Sandro and Tiemoue Bakayoko by bidding £55m for the Juventus full-back and “£40m plus” for the Monaco midfielder.

Elsewhere, Man Utd have sent three scouts to watch Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney (Express), Everton are expected to confirm the £5.2m signing of Malaga forward Sandro Ramirez this week (Star) and Southampton are keen on Tottenham defender Kevin Wimmer but they want Spurs to drop their £20m asking price because they think it’s silly (Mirror).
